In recognition of National HIV Testing Day, the African American Health Program (AAHP) is teaming up with Walgreens and Greater Than HIV to bring free, confidential health services directly to the community.
Why Should You Show Up?
Because knowing your status is power. No cost, no appointment, no excuses. If you’re sexually active, especially if you’re part of a high-risk group, testing for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis C is essential. These are silent infections that often show no symptoms; catching them early can make all the difference.
What’s Being Offered:
- Free on-site rapid testing for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis C
- Private counseling to help you understand your results
- Referrals for PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) for HIV prevention
- Connection to treatment services if needed
Black residents in Montgomery County continue to experience a disproportionate burden of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis C. Testing is a vital public health tool that helps uncover undiagnosed infections, opens the door to treatment, and strengthens efforts to reduce community-wide transmission.
