Addressing Domestic Violence in Montgomery County

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), and AAHP proudly supports the Domestic Violence Awareness Project’s 2024 campaign, "Heal, Hold & Center." This year’s campaign emphasizes fostering healing, creating supportive spaces for survivors, and centering the needs of individuals affected by domestic violence.

Domestic violence remains a significant concern in Montgomery County, MD, especially among Black residents. The impact of domestic violence in these communities is worsened by systemic racism and limited access to resources. AAHP is actively involved in efforts to prevent and address domestic violence in Montgomery County, MD. Through trauma-informed care, community-based healing practices, and partnerships with faith-based institutions, AAHP provides culturally competent mental health services, safe housing resources, and supportive spaces where survivors can find understanding and strength.
