AAHP's CDMP classes are online!

AAHP’s CDMP classes provide essential information about making the right lifestyle choices in order to improve health and prevent, manage, and reverse chronic disease.

Attendees can access classes online via Zoom. Classes include informal lectures, lively discussion, question and answer sessions. AAHP's nutritionist will also conduct cooking demonstrations of delicious and healthy dishes like fruit and vegetable smoothies, salads, and vegetarian chili. Attendees will also have the opportunity to review their health goals and progress (glucose, blood pressure, weight management, cholesterol).

SPECIAL FEATURES: Guest speakers, Games (Bingo, Scavenger Hunts, Jeopardy,  Cahoots, etc), Giveaways!

Health and Nutrition (Anti-Inflammatory Lifestyle)

Mondays, 6PM - 7PM

This class highlights the benefits of anti-inflammatory foods and how they can enhance your health by reducing the risk of chronic conditions like arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes. Healthy cooking demonstrations included!

Thursdays, 1:00 - 2:30 pm

This class focuses on the numerous benefits of a plant-based/vegan diet and how it can improve your overall health by reducing your risk of chronic conditions like obesity, diabetes, hypertensions, cancer, and Alzheimer's. Healthy cooking demonstrations included!

Diabetes Prevention Program

Tuesdays, 6PM - 7PM

Join us for a yearlong program designed for people with prediabetes or people who are at high risk for type 2 diabetes and want to lower their risk. Participants will learn how to stay on track with their plans of action for weight control and exercise to prevent type 2 diabetes.

Health and Fitness (Yoga)

Wednesdays, 10am - 11pm⁠

Learn how yoga can help you manage stress as well as prevent, manage, and reverse your risk for chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, cancer, and Alzheimer’s Disease. Trained yoga professional and psychologist Dr. Kelsey Ball will guide you through yoga poses and discuss wellness techniques.

Take Control of Your Health I and II: Various Topics

Wednesdays and Thursdays
6:00PM - 7:00PM

This class explores different health topics, including brain health, autoimmune disorders, mental wellness, depression, arthritis, lupus, sleep disorders, and more. Goal-setting, medications, and the impact of these diseases on the Black/African American community will also be discussed.

Low Impact Exercise

Thursdays at 11:30am

AAHP's low impact workout classes guide attendees through easy to do movements to assist in the preventing, managing, and reversing the risk for chronic diseases.

Fridays at 11am - 12pm⁠

Get your 30 minutes in for the day. In this mid-impact dance class, trained exercise professionals will guide you and get you MOVING from the comfort of your own home. You'll also learn how fitness can prevent, manage, and reverse your risk for chronic diseases.

Tai Chi

Saturday at 9am

Tai Chi, an ancient Chinese martial art, is renowned for its health benefits, including improving balance, flexibility, and muscle strength, and for its effectiveness in reducing stress and anxiety. This self-paced, gentle exercise combines deep breathing and slow movements, making it a form of moving meditation that enhances both mental and physical well-being.
