The African American Health Program (AAHP) will celebrate National Public Health Week 2026 with a series of free health and wellness events at churches across Montgomery County during the week of April 6 to 12. Under the national theme “Ready. Set. Action!” AAHP is bringing free health screenings, guest speakers, health activities, and community resources directly into the faith spaces where Black families already gather.
The Black church has long served as a cornerstone of health and healing in the African American community. Research has consistently shown that Black Americans who are active in their faith community are more likely to seek preventive care, better manage chronic conditions, and report stronger overall wellbeing. By hosting these events in churches across the county, AAHP is honoring that connection and meeting community members where they are.
